3 months in

On April 13, 2023, we ventured into uncharted territory, but it was far from unknown. Our IMF team had spent the past year-and-a-half preparing to launch The Intensive, an intensive outpatient program for those interested in spending targeted time working through mental health challenges.

Since April, a lot has happened in The Intensive, and we are really honored and grateful to be part of such a transformative program in mid-Missouri. Utilizing the framework of harm reduction, we are helping folks decide the best path forward for them and those walking alongside them. Here’s a snapshot of The Intensive: A 3 Month Review.

12 clients have engaged in The Intensive

Referrals have come from residential treatment facilities, friends/family members of participants, and local psychiatry practices. Several clients have self-referred due to The Intensive’s approach and/or a former group experience at IMF Counseling.

Average length of stay: 12 weeks

We encourage each group member to join The Intensive for at least two weeks while we work closely with them to determine the best course of treatment. Ongoing evaluation and assessments are shared between group members and the clinical team to provide a well-rounded, individualized approach.

A variety of mental health concerns

Common conditions Intensive participants struggle with:

  • Mood Disorder
  • Substance Use
  • Unresolved trauma

Higher levels of care

9 out of 12 participants have engaged in residential treatment prior to or during their time in The Intensive. We are continually monitoring for the appropriate level of care for each client and adjusting individual treatment plans accordingly.

Guests

It has been a great experience for our team and our clients to learn from local organizations like Bamboo Nutrition and The Fitness Company. We are anxiously awaiting our Tai Chi introduction and music therapy coming soon! Addressing basic needs is essential when doing intense therapy work.

The #1 reported reason clients stay in The Intensive

It’s the treatment modalities. It’s the group exercises. It’s the trauma work.

It’s the group.

Family Systems Approach

5 of the 12 participants have involved their loved ones in either couple’s counseling and/or the Friends & Family Coaching Group. Both options are included in the program cost as long as the client is in The Intensive.
